The Library Monitor
In my last year of primary school i was a library Monitor - I spent my childhood reading everything i could get my hands on, and so to me, this was the most prestigious honour! (No wonder everyone thought i was such a nerd.)
Our duties were to to put books away neatly on their correct shelves and to scan the barcodes when people wanted to borrow books at lunchtime. Sometimes we abused our priveleges by photocopying our hands for fun. I remember eating many tuna sandwiches (swapped with my friend Hayley for my boring Vegemite ones) and being in love with Anthony Browne picture books at this time.
This is also dedicated to my mother whom i love so dearly, and who now works as the school librarian in that same library where i first learned to love to read.
